Slow Living Simple Joys in Devon

Hey!

So… what’s been filling my cup up lately?

Sometimes the smallest things just make us feel more aligned. A quiet moment, a familiar song, the smell of morning coffee. I’ve always felt a real nourishment in simplicity.

Books

I've been moving through a couple.

Anyone else often have multiple books on the go?

  • Blue Mind by Wallace J. Nichols - A lil love letter to water and the way it heals. This book reminds me why we’re drawn to the sea, why a swim or even just watching the tide can calm the nervous system. It’s science, yup, but also super relaxing to read.

  • Quiet Marketing by Danielle Gardner - This one’s a breath of fresh air. It offers a softer, more spacious way of showing up in business.

Places

There’s nothing like finding a place that you vibe with. Where the coffee is good, the space is thoughtfully curated, and time seems to slow a little.

  • The Doe, Buckfastleigh - This spot is super gorgeous. Beautiful interiors that feel like a mix between a vintage sanctuary and a creative haven, paired with a simplistic delish brunch menu. A lil gem.

  • Cafe-Ode, Shaldon – A familiar spot where I can take a BIG exhale after teaching, order my fave, and know I’m leaving feeling a little more grounded.

  • Lilac Bakery, Exeter - Ooosh, the cakes, the bread, the coffee, the decor - ALL of it.

Rituals

No big elaborate ones, just grounding practices that create pockets of peace in my day.

  • No phone on waking - A moment of stillness and up and out of bed, before the noise creeps in. It makes a big difference.

  • Morning light, movement, and dog walks - A gentle walk with the dog - he loves it, I love it. Then a yoga or pilates session. 20-30 minutes is all I need.

  • Coffee in the quiet - No rushing. Maybe a few journal lines.

Soundtrack

Novo Amor - Bathing Beach - This album has been on repeat again lately. Easy listening. A little nostagic. The good stuff.

As the seasons shift - joy doesn’t always need to be loud. It can be simple.

What’s bringing you joy right now?
